ZOO TRIP

On Tuesday 26th of August we visited the zoo! The weather was perfect and a big thank you to Laura and her team for showing us around.  We had an awesome time and fa'afetai lava to all our parents who supported us on our trip.
Here are a selection of photos for now, see if you can name all the animals.

Maths Week 11th - 15 August

We have been doing a range of fun activities to show how maths is everywhere and how important it is for us to know our basic facts!!! Here are a few of our favourite bits:

Grace and Tasi - "we enjoyed doing the daily code breaker, especially trying to be the first one to break it."

Junior and Christian - "we liked working out the number of sides for different shapes at the Junior Maths Assembly on Wednesday."

Natalia and Rosseinah - Both agreed it was great to have different teachers read to us.  Rosseinah - "my favourite book was the Crocodile Coats about measurement." Natalia - "the  book with nursery rhymes was the best."

Marina and Aruna - "we learnt that engineers use maths to design lots of things like bridges  and roads, they also help things not fall over."

Tyrese - "the shape song was really cool...a circle is like a ball, round and round..."

Selma - "during Mathex I learnt more about telling the time."

Lynette, Diane and Ashton - making repeating patterns using our own actions and shapes for human art was lots of fun and hard work."

Christina and Renel - "taking part in Mathex was hard work but also exciting!"

MATHEX Middle Team Competition:

The name of our team: Tupu consisting of  Christina, Renel, Selma and Tasi.

MovenMprove - PE with a bit of gymnastics

Today our focus was to improve our basic balancing, leaping, rolling and jumping  skills. We also worked on following instructions, taking turns and to help and support each other.

Learning to balance with control when
falling on the floor

We all had a hard workout moving all the
time and exercising different parts of
our bodies.  We couldn't wait to have a big drink
and look forward to more MovenMproving.

Last Friday the school celebrated Maori Language Week with a special assembly hosted by Te Whanau.  Classes were invited to share what they had learnt about Whanaugatanga Po - Positive Relationships.  This is what we came up with, we shared a poster with photos showing examples of TEAM WORK, GETTING ALONG WITH EACH OTHER, SHOWING RESPECT TO ONE ANOTHER, TRUST, SHARING AND CARING.

Welcome back to Term 3.  Our inquiry topic this term is ADAPTATION.
